From the 19th century, Liska has served as a focal point of Jewish community and tradition. Hershele Lisker, or Tzvi Hirsh Liska, draws thousands to Liska, inspiring pilgrimage each year. Liska is home to over 500 Jewish heritage sites, from cemeteries to synagogues reflecting a long history. In the 1800s, about 3,000 Jews lived in Liska, forming a rich and vibrant community. Liska’s legacy has reached nearby towns, notably Kerestir, impacting Jewish life in Hungary.
